Reasons To Quit Smoking Cigarettes
With 2010 fast approaching, now is a great time to resolve to quit smoking in the new year. But if the start of a new decade is not reason enough for you to simply quit smoking, it’s time to do some soul-searching to discover personal reasons in your life for you to quit smoking.
Perhaps you have noticed the drain that smoking puts on your finances. If you are someone that even has a single pack a day smoking habit or less, the savings incurred over the course of a month and a full year can be enormous. Therefore, financial incentives might be all the reason the smoker in you needs to kick the habit.
If money better spent on other things (or people in our lives) is not reason enough for you to quit smoking, then consider a longer, healthier life with much less risk for serious and deadly afflictions such as cancer (lungs, mouth, throat), emphysema, heart disease and coronary (heart attack) and even sexual dysfunction. Smoking reduces your lifespan, quality of life (and love life), and can make for a painful passing.
Quitting smoking can extend your lifespan, reduce your risk for disease, and improve your quality of life. Quitting smoking can bring the following benefits: more energy, food tasting better, weight loss and improved physical condition, and better ability to mentally focus and problem solve. Additionally, you as well as your home and car will smell better, and oh by the way – did we mention the money savings incurred?
However, recent studies have shown how difficult it is for those addicted to smoking to quit. A medical study revealed that 50 percent of smokers who had life-saving surgery directly related to an illness or disease caused by smoking actually return to smoking. And in fact, only 10 percent of people who try to quit smoking are actually successful at kicking the smoking habit.
If you are a smoker, ask yourself the question: which percentage are you?
