Did you happen to catch the Disney/Pixar animated featured “Wall-E”? That futuristic scenario where all the humans are obese may one day become a reality. But it doesn’t have to be this way. So here are some of the best weight gain prevention tips.

Eating a healthy breakfast earlier in the morning, and before 9 am, is recommended. Breakfast needn’t be a big production. It can be as simple as nonfat milk/yogurt smoothie with fruit; toasted English muffin with fruit spread; whole-grain cereal or oatmeal with raisins and skim milk, or even an egg-white omelet and whole-wheat toast. A small, healthy snack between lunch and breakfast can tide you over in the meantime and prevent you from overeating during lunch. Try: a piece of fruit, a small fat-free yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese, or one or two pieces of low-fat string cheese.

A healthy, balanced lunch is recommended, and it’s suggested that lunch be eaten no later than 1:30.

A healthy, mid-afternoon snack can tide you over until dinner. Rather than hitting the vending machine for a candy bar or chips, consider low-fat or fat-free yogurt or cottage cheese, along with a piece of fruit. But don’t be so hard on yourself if every now and then you do opt for the vending machine. We’re all human.

A healthy dinner eaten before 7:30 is recommended. Try to always include soup or salad, mixed vegetables and protein, such as poultry, lean red meat, fish, legumes or even a veggie burger. If you find yourself craving dessert, consider mixed fruits.

And mom was right – water should be consumed throughout the day. Sometimes we might think we are hungry, but in fact we’re actually thirsty. Water can fill our stomachs until our next meal.
