Winter Car Care Tips
For some reason, many drivers just throw out all the rules as soon as winter weather hits. We can’t give you any ways to keep other drivers under control, but the following tips will be extremely helpful in making your winter driving more manageable.
Watch where you warm up your car
It sure is nice to get into a warm car on a cold morning, but just be careful where you start your car. Never warm up your car in an enclosed area like a garage. We understand why you might want to keep the door close if a heavy snowfall is coming down, but doing so could lead to you inhaling deadly car fumes.
So if you have to get the car running before you hop in, be sure to do it either outside or with the garage door open.

Check your tires
Depending upon the amount of snowfall you get every year, you might not need to get snow tires put on your car every winter. But one thing you do need to do is make sure your tires have the right air pressure. Having too little or too much air in your tires is dangerous on a normal day and that danger only increase when the roads are covered in ice.
Having the incorrect amount of air pressure in your tires can negatively affect how your tires grip the road and could lead to a flat when going over the potholes that are inevitably going to get opened even further by ice.
Keep your tank off of E
It’s always a good idea to keep gas in your tank, but doing so in winter is more than just convenient. Keeping your tank at least halfway full at all times during cold weather can keep your gas line from freezing.

Don’t use cruise control
Using cruise control on any type of slick surface is a bad idea. So even if the roads aren’t icy all over, avoid cruise control when it’s even close to being cold enough to freeze. Hitting even one isolated patch of ice while in cruise control can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
Get an Extended Warranty
Your car can break down at any time of the year, no matter what season it is. An excellent way to protect yourself and your car against astronomical maintenance fees is to get an extended auto warranty for your car.
